My goal for this piece was to create a piece of furniture that was not compromised of separate parts but instead consisted of one entity. I began with some sketches and made shapes using clay. I started with a sphere and then a cuboid shape then morphed them in ways that created a chair.

The inspiration came from books written by spiritual teacher and author Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now and A New Earth. Tolle emphasises the importance of being present in order to sense the interconnectedness between ourselves and all things. Therefore, I found a way to express the feeling of oneness and wholeness through furniture.
